Originally constructed in the late 15th century, it was famous for its frescoes and elaborate decoration by some of the greatest artists including Michelangelo, who painted "The Last Judgement" on the ceiling during the 16th century; as well as Botticelli, whose murals run along the length of the walls. A true pièce de resistance, it’s one of the things you can’t leave Rome without seeing!
